1964 Porsche 356C – Sold
This 1964 Porsche 356C has been in the same family since new! It is wearing its original California Black License Plate. Fantastic provenance on this Porsche (see below). JUST SOLD – THANK YOU
This car is very straight and virtually rust free. We have inspected the car thoroughly for rust and any body damage/repairs (see notes below). It was repainted sometime in its past; fortunately its original color.
Note original speaker grilles.
The interior is in good condition. The carpets (original?) are worn in places. We understand that the car had a green color interior originally and was replaced by the original owners with black when it became worn. The original headliner is in very good shape.
The registration with the license plate # since new is in the visor pouch.
Weber carbs replacing original Solex carbs; other than these, the engine and engine compartment appear very original. The engine runs very well and was tuned, valves adjusted, etc, by the Porsche shop that brought the car “back to life” in May. A leakdown test was performed on all cylinders with very good results: Cyl1 3.5%; Cyl2 4.0%; Cyl3 4.0%; Cyl4 3.5%, all were leaking to the crank case. These numbers while very good should improve with regular driving and valves now adjusted correctly. A copy of the shops full report on the car is available to a prospective purchaser.
Shop inspection notes of chassis and pan: “the pan appears very original and is in very nice shape, no major dents or signs of impact. The battery area is clean and intact. The jack points are excellent. No sign of any accident damage to body/chassis. There is a very small amount of rust bubbling on the lower drivers door; there is a very small amount of surface rust around the master cylinder where fluid has removed some of the original undercoating but no holes. Inspected rocker panels, no indications of rust or poorly installed new rockers, suspect these are original to car. Doors and windows operate easily and properly. Both front trunk lid and engine compartment lid open and close properly – hinges are in good condition. Rear vent window hardware is intact and in good condition.”
This is Porsche # 216255; Engine # P711771; Transmission # 74272; Color # 6401 Slate Grey. We have ordered a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche (will post when we receive it); in the interim Porsche has confirmed this car to be an original, all matching numbers car.
Here is the story of the car from its last owner; very cool that at age 15 he got to help his Dad pick out this car new and that he now sends it on to a new owner with his best wishes!
Photo below was taken of the car in garage in Denver prior to our loading the car for transport to Porsche shop (Simple Auto Solutions) in Boulder, CO.
Car on lift at Porsche shop for a thorough inspection. After minor maintenance and servicing it now runs and drives very well. When we pulled the sending unit to check the fuel tank we were surprised to find that it looked like new inside, no signs of any rust or contamination! The suspension, brakes, transmission, clutch, engine, exhaust, etc. are all very good.
