1974 Fuel Injected, Overdrive MGB GT – Sold
1974 MGB GT For Sale. Many consider the GT version of the MGB to be more attractive than the roadster version of the car, certainly the Pininfarina design is a very handsome GT.
This particular car looks very good in Citron Yellow (BMC Color # BLVC 73) and is very well complimented by it’s beautiful cream leather interior sourced from England from the rare MGRV8. Genuine Lucas Fog Ranger lamps are functional and also serve to provide a unique, appealing visual impact to the front of the car. While most rubber bumpered B’s tend to look a bit clumsy, here they provide a nice contrast to the yellow exterior and fit well with the overall aesthetic of the car; as do the Panasport alloy wheels.
This car features a Megasquirt Fuel Injection system providing easy starting, smooth running and reliable, enhanced performance. This feature, coupled with the electrically operated all synchromesh Over Drive transmission and its plush, comfortable interior make for a wonderful touring sports GT.
JUST SOLD – THANK YOU
Flared spoiler beneath the front bumper is a good looking and functional addition.
Body and paint work on this rust free example is very good. The car was taken down to bare metal and any rust repaired prior to being resprayed in 2002. The windshield and window rubber seals, front and rear, are new.
The nicest and highest quality interior we’ve ever seen on most any MGB! Cabrerra glove like leather. Note that the fine finish extends to the door panels and carpeting.
The front end, front and rear wings, and doors are essentially the same as the roadster but the windscreen is slightly higher making for a higher roof line which provides better visibility and headroom. The roof runs back in a gentle curve over the doors and rear side windows into a large glass hinged tail gate that allows great access to the rear compartment. The rear jump seat folds flat for luggage, golf clubs or “what, what have you” as the Brits like to say. A very practical and useful feature for a touring GT. The shape of the GT also improved aerodynamics for a higher top speed than the roadster and improved handling by adding more weight over the rear wheels.
High back, adjustable bucket seats with head rests are comfortable and supportive. New inertia type seat belts also fitted.
Tilt opening sunroof adds light and more window up ventilation.
British Moto-Lita wood steering wheel adds a warm, tactile compliment to the quality fit and finish of the interior. Dash is new.
The 1800 cc engine has been rebuilt and has excellent oil pressure; head has been converted to lead free gas with Stellite exhaust valves and large intake valves, bronze guides, new valve springs, rocker shaft and tappet set in 2007.
Engine has been converted to to fuel injection using a Ford Escort throttle body and Megasquirt engine control module. New updated software and connecting cables. Upgraded to electronic ignition and distributor. Starter replaced in 2006, clutch and slave cylinder in 2010. New overdrive trans. solenoid.
