1968 Ford Mustang GT 2 Door Hardtop – Sold
1968 Mustang GT 2 Door Hardtop For Sale. This is Mustang # 8R01S167236 built on July 15, 1968 at the Ford plant in San Jose, CA.
This was a potent muscle car in its day, a first year “S” Code car featuring a 390 cu in High Performance big block V8 4bbl engine which produces an impressive 325 hp and 427 ft lb of torque. Weighing in at about 2,800 lbs with driver & fuel, this Mustang turned 13 second quarter mile times at 105 mph right out of the box! JUST SOLD – THANK YOU
This Mustang retains its original finish and features. Paint is “Presidential Blue” (Ford Color # 3061-A) having had one high quality, glass out repaint with new rubber in this original color seven years ago. The body is straight and rust free and the paint provides a deep luster and shine. The deep blue is set off very nicely by its White “C” stripe, black vinyl roof, and raised white letter tires; a great looking car.
This is a car that looks great from most every angle but we really like the concave rear tail light panel that was introduced on Mustangs in ’67 and the quad tips of the GT dual exhaust. The exhaust note on the car is that just right sound of healthy big block V8 burble.
This car was equipped with the following features when first built (per the included Deluxe Marti Report) and aside from new tires are still on this unmodified car:
GT Equipment Group; Blue Vinyl Bucket Seats, Black Vinyl Roof; F70x14 Wide Oval White Sidewall Nylon Tires; Console; C-6 Select Shift Automatic Transmission; 3.00 Rear Axle; Power Front Disc Brakes; Power Steering; SelectAire Air Conditioning; AM Radio, Tinted Glass and Deluxe Seat Belts.
Interior is in very good condition without any tears, blems, or cracks on the dash. The two tone vinyl really works well with the dark blue body paint and provide a great, period correct look and feel.
A new original type headliner was installed in June 2009 and remains in very good shape.
All gauges, lights, etc. working. The dash is in very good shape although the chrome like finish on the plasti-trim gauge cowlings are beginning to show some yellowing; a NOS dash gauge cluster is included (!) should one wish to replace it in the future.
Select Shift C-6 Automatic Transmission; shifts very well, no slipping (was rebuilt 1/08). Note embossed Mustang floor mats too.
Engine and engine compartment are very neat and tidy. No drips, leaks, or smoke from engine, car runs very well.
Mustang GT wheels in very good shape as are P215/70R14 tires.
We received this car from a long time Mustang owner and collector in Northern California where the car has been since new and who recently moved to Colorado. He had owned this particular GT for the past 23 years and we have very good records on the car along with some nice factory spares from his collection as well. His long term love, care and maintenance of the car is reflected in its excellent condition and we’re sure the next owner will continue to enjoy this nice GT too.
