Welcome to Vintage Motors of Lyons

Front of the shop in Lyons

We sell, consign, purchase, and locate cars of interest for folks that appreciate them. We  always carry an eclectic selection of classics. Whether you are wanting that perfect  Sunday driver, a project car, or a higher end investment, we probably have a car that you will enjoy!

I have been passionate about cars since I was a kid in the '50's and '60's and bought my first car while in high school, which was a then 10 year old 1958 MGA. Since then I have enjoyed and nurtured many classics, both foreign and domestic. I decided to follow and share my passion for cars by creating a welcoming marketplace to not only sell cars, but open a place for everyone to come in and check out and talk cars, look at car books, magazines, posters, artwork, etc..

Our shop was originally built as a Texaco gas station in the 1940's and is conveniently located at the junction of the two highways leading to the Rocky Mountains just north west of Boulder. You won't miss us at the west end of Main Street.  Lyons is a fun, small town offering nationally known live music festivals and brewpub; shops and great fly fishing, kayaking, tubing, hiking, and mountain biking.  The South St. Vrain Canyon is among many great driving roads in the area.

The best part of this business has been all of the great people we meet. Thanks for visiting our site and I hope to meet you whenever you are in the area.

The TR3 was launched by The  Standard-Triumph Motor Company of Coventry, England in October of 1955 as the successor to the TR2. In 1956, the TR3 became the first British production car to be equipped with front disc brakes.  In 1957, the TR3 received a new wider and less recessed grille, standard external door handles and a locking boot handle; these cars are unofficially designated as the TR3A (1957-1962).

Top down fun is what the TR3 is all about!

Stylistically, the term “rugged” seems to fit. With its cut-down doors, sweeping fender lines, its trim, and oh so British rear end, and headlights similar to the early Sprite, the TR3 boosted Triumph into becoming one of Britains leading producer of open two seat sports cars and in 1960 was the best selling roadster in the U.S.

The powerplant is the 1,991 cc in-line 4 cylinder overhead valve engine producing 100 hp and capable of powering the car to a top speed of near 110 mph. This horsepower, coupled with abundant torque, made the TR3 a fun and spunky driver.  The cut down doors make 60 mph feel more like a 100 (so no need for any ill advised attempts for top end!!).
